WASPS boss Lee Blackett was delighted with the win but wants his side to back it up against Newcastle next week.
“We have got a lot of boys out, senior players, but I was happy with the entire 23 today.
“There are things to improve on but there were a lot of positives and now we have got to back that up against Newcastle.
“We have got some work to do on our setpiece and our maul wasn't as good as it could be.
“We were pretty clinical with some of our finishing but it all came off the back of our defence. I'm delighted for Matt Everard and the defence work he has done.
“I'm also really happy with the fitness levels considering we have only played a couple of preseason games.”
Bristol boss Pat Lam said: “We have been in this situation many times. The Premiership is about 24 rounds, points are on offer all the time and once you don't get them you learn why not and move on.
“It would be a challenge if this was our first year but we know we can bring it back to a game of rugby and we can win games of rugby.”
