Warren Gatland has put himself in position to win the World Cup with Wales this autumn and again with New Zealand in four years’ time.
Nobody has ever thought about a double on such a global scale, let alone attempt it. As if that’s not enough, the world’s longest-serving Test coach will be given a year off between global jamborees for the Lions’ three-match series in South Africa.
That deserves to make him a new entry into the Premier League of master strategists, a category long monopolised by the likes of Alexander the Great.
