DAI Young has revealed he gave Nathan Hughes “a poke in the eye” to re-ignite the spark inside his powerful England forward.
The Wasps Director of Rugby felt Hughes’ usual high-energy performance levels were falling and he needed extra encouragement to raise them again, and help stop the club slipping towards relegation.
Now, having eased any Premiership concerns with a bonus point win over Worcester Warriors, Young has challenged the man who is quitting for Bristol Bears to bow out with a roar.
