OLLY Robinson says the prospect of playing for European glory is beyond his wildest dreams.
The Cardiff Blues flanker began the season in the second tier of English rugby with Bristol and should end it by running out against Gloucester in next month’s Challenge Cup final in Bilbao.
Robinson told TRP: “If you had told me at the start of the year I would be playing in a European final, I would have laughed at you.
“But it’s funny how life takes you in different directions. It’s been a roller-coaster year and I didn’t expect anything like this to happen.
“It’s a hell of an achievement to reach the final. This is a great squad and I think the attitude is the main difference between where we are now and where we were at the start of the season.”
Robinson, 26, insists he will need no extra motivation when facing Gloucester in a fortnight’s time.
His father – former England boss Andy – played and coached Bath for over a decade and raised his son as a fervent supporter of Gloucester’s arch rivals.
“I’ve grown up being taught the Cherry and White jersey is not a nice jersey!” said Robinson.
