Eddie Jones receives telling off from his mother…

England head coach Eddie Jones might be 57 years old but that wasn't enough to save him from a stern dressing down at the hands of is 93-year-old mother following England's 21-8 triumph over Argentina on Saturday.
A rusty England side struggled to get into any kind of rhythm during the 80 minutes and the camera panned to Jones repeatedly as his usual ability to self-control appeared to desert him.
After Sam Underhill conceded a penalty inside England's own 22, Jones was seen shouting “F***, how f****** stupid are we?”. To most hardened sports fans, this raised few eyebrows. If Argentina had kicked the 14 points they missed at goal they could well have left Twickenham with an unlikely upset so, if anything, he did well not to reach the next level of obscenities!
While Eddie Jones was more than happy to apologise to his mother for swearing he was less inclined to seek forgiveness from the sold-out, and bored, Twickenham crowd.
He was asked post-match if he felt he owed the fans an apology for his teams disappointing display and offered a barbed response: “You [the media] are always looking for people to blame, so I'm telling you blame me. It is my fault that the team did not play well and I take responsibility for that.”
Resting key players such as Owen Farrell and Maro Itoje clearly played a role in England's lack of cohesion and fans will be keen to see both back in action this Saturday for the visit of Australia. Both players were recently nominated for the World Rugby Player of the Year Award and will be keen to show the world why they deserve to be in contention to win the prestigious accolade.
