Leicester are believed to have signed France international Maxime Mermoz with immediate effect.
The centre is expected to arrive at Welford Road this week as injury cover for Manu Tuilagi who suffered a season-ending knee injury a couple of weeks ago.
But French reports also suggest that he will stay in the East Midlands until 2020 having penned a three-year deal with the Tigers.
Mermoz was still under contract with Toulon until the end of the season but, struggling to break the midfield partnership of Ma’a Nonu and Matthieu Bastareaud, the 30-year-old has been released early in order to kick-start his career in the Premiership.
