DTH Van der Merwe will not played again this season having to undergo left shoulder surgery tomorrow.
The Scarlets winger suffered the injury in the 13th minute of last Saturday’s defeat to Glasgow Warriors.
The Canadian international has made 19 appearances for the Welsh region since joining after the Rugby World Cup and has scored eight tries.
Scarlets Head of Medical Andrew Walker said: “DTH will undergo reconstructive surgery on Thursday. He will miss the remainder of the current season and we would expect to see him make a full recovery in time for the start of the 2016-17 campaign.”
