Leicester agree move for Chiefs lock Fitzgerald

Tigers have agreed a move for second-row forward Mike Fitzgerald from the Chiefs in .
The Auckland-born, 28, has won two titles with the Chiefs as well as playing with Manawatu.
Fitzgerald is the latest new signing announcement by Tigers following Monday's news of the arrival of international wing Peter Betham from the Waratahs. The club has already announced the addition of forwards Opeti Fonua, Brendon O'Connor and Mike Williams to the squad for next season.
He said: “I have loved my time playing for the Chiefs and the Turbos in New Zealand but feel it's the right time to make the move with my young family across to the UK. We're excited about linking up with the Tigers and settling into Leicester.
“I like the style of play and type of rugby the Tigers are known for and I am looking forward to testing myself in the and in Europe.”
director of rugby Richard Cockerill added: “Mike will be a good addition to our group of locks, especially with the retirement of Louis Deacon and Brad Thorn. He has played in very good company at the Chiefs and now wants the experience of playing rugby in Europe.”
