Schools mid-week round up

Will Attfield scored two tries to help Hampton School beat fierce rivals RGS High Wycombe 20-8 and reach the seventh round of the NatWest Cup.
Full-back Attfield ended the game with 12 points, converting one of his tries, while prop Sam Curran added a third, intercepting and running in from 40 yards, and Ben Seddon slotted a penalty.
RGS had James Phimister crossing late on but last year’s semi-finalists were already out of the competition by then.
They will now travel to Monmouth who beat Gryphon School 19-8 on Thursday. The Welsh enjoyed a superb season so far which culminated by a win over Champions Trophy winners Millfield last month.
Hampton director of rugby Zoran Higgins was quick to praise his players for their performance on Wednesday.
“I was expecting the game to be tighter to be honest but the boys played very well and deserved the win,” he told The Rugby Paper.
“We lost narrowly to RGS in the quarter-finals last season and in the league last October because our execution let us down so being accurate was key for us this time around. We scored three very good tries and then showed a lot of maturity to close the game out in the second half.
“From what I’ve heard Monmouth are quite formidable so it’ll be a great challenge for us. We’ll have nothing to lose and they’ll be under pressure to win at home. It’s going to be a great occasion.”
Lymm High School, Stamford and Wilmslow also booked their place in the seventh round.
It was a close affair for Wilmslow who overcame Stonyhurst 10-7 at home and they will now host St Peter’s York in the next round.
It was slightly easier for Lymm, who came back from Worksop with a 24-8 success to set up a clash against Hymers College, and Stamford, who thumped The Leys 45-0, thanks to a hat-trick from hooker Josh Allen to earn a tie against Bromsgrove.
