Schalk Brits will have knee ligament surgery and will be out of action until “well into the new year”.
The Saracens hooker suffered the injury early in the second half against Clermont in the Champions Cup on Saturday.
Saracens’ head of medicine Joe Collins confirmed the South African would have surgery on today.
