Newcastle today announced they will have a 3G artificial pitch in place at Kingston Park for the new season.
Director of rugby Dean Richards is confident the new pitch will aid his plans to improve the team’s style of rugby after just 23 tries in 2013-14.
“The new surface will undoubtedly produce a more free-flowing entertaining style,” he said.
“There is also the potential for community use of the pitch on and around match days which will benefit the sport in our region.”
