Sione Kalamafoni has put pen to paper signing a contract extension with Gloucester.
In his second season at Kingsholm, the Tongan No.8, who was named Supporters’ Player of the Season, became a household name for the Cherry and Whites since arriving from Championship club Nottingham.
He follows the footstep of centre Henry Trinder who also signed an extension earlier this week while Billy Twelvetrees did so back in September.
Gloucester director of rugby Nigel Davies said: “Sione has attracted attention worldwide, from the likes of Japan and, of course, France.
“He could have made more money elsewhere, but he wants to stay here at Gloucester. He knows the plans that we’ve put in place and believes in what we’re doing. He wants to be part of something here.”
“It’s great news for Gloucester. He’s a fantastic rugby player, versatile enough to play at six, a good lineout option and we all know his work rate around the park. He’s got terrific skills and is one of the hardest running eights around.”
