Welsh regions “fully support” Champions Cup

The got closer to its death tonight after the governing body of the Welsh regions, Regional Rugby , revealed they fully back the newly proposed .
With the English and French lead the rebellion over the current European Cup format, this announcement is a major blow to the ERC and their hope to save the Heineken Cup.
revealed last Sunday in The Rugby Paper that an announcement was imminent after the Welsh, Irish and Scottish unions met with Rugby last week in London.
The RRW statement also recognised that “whilst there remain elements of detail to be confirmed, it is now clear that there are a number of significant advantages to the new competitions.”
The full RRW statement read: “Regional Rugby Wales (RRW) on behalf of the four Welsh Regions confirms its full support for the proposed new Rugby Champions Cup Competitions.
“Whilst there remain elements of detail to be confirmed, it is now clear that there are a number of significant advantages to the new competitions in equality of governance, format, qualification and distribution across the individual participating Clubs.
Consequently, RRW looks forward to working with the WRU to support their efforts and positive engagement in striving to ensure our teams are involved in strong, valuable European Clubs Competitions in time for next season.”
