Apparently the last Saturday night sports paper closed down in Portsmouth last week – the Portsmouth Sports Mail – after 119 years at the sharp end which promptly brought up all sorts of frantic memories filing rugby reports for the South Wales Argus and the Sport Echo in the mid- 1980s.
