Lions aside, rugby has no place in sport’s silly season

THE rugby in recent weeks has been generally splendid and, until this weekend sun kissed, but perversely more than ever I am convinced it should firmly resist the regular calls to become a summer game.
It’s the third week of June and I really want to immerse myself in Euro 2020 and the Test cricket and the T20 Blast. I want my annual one-month dose of tennis – Queens and Wimbledon does me just nicely, I don’t need any more.
