New funding deal for Championship clubs revealed

RFU ChampionshipAs revealed in our The Rugby Paper on August 5th, the has unveiled today a new four-year funding deal for clubs.
Each club will receive £345,000 this season rising up to £380,000 by the 2015/2016 season.
Clubs and players have been unhappy about the financial help they received from the English governing body and stated that an increase in funding was necessary in order to run their team on a professional basis.
However some are still unhappy with the deal.
Dr Graham Stirling, chairman of , said: “While we welcome the offer from the RFU, it's still disappointing. It doesn't meet what we all felt at the outset of the Championship was the appropriate level of funding to have a sustainable, fully professional league.”
