ON THE BLINDSIDE
England and Lions hooker Jamie George is ready to turn don a lucrative move to French outfit Lyon and pen a new contract with Premiership champions Saracens.
Lyon, who are third from bottom in the Top 14 table, are understood to have offered George, 33, around £380,000 a year to leave north London when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
George, below, who has been with Saracens since 2009, signed a new deal at the end of last year and is widely expected to join the coaching staff when he does eventually hang up his boots.
He is close to reaching an agreement with Saracens, who have been holding talks with their leading stars like Maro Itoje and Owen Farrell since they returned from the World Cup.
Meanwhile, another player who won’t be leaving the club is England three-quarter Elliot Daly, who is understood to be close to putting pen to paper on a new contract.
