Biggar closes in on deal

Lions fly-half Dan Biggar

ON THE BLINDSIDE

Dan Biggar is inching towards a deal that will see him leave Northampton Saints when he has recovered from a knee injury and move to French club Toulon.

The Wales and Lions ace was always going to be leaving Franklin’s Gardens at the end of the season after it was announced when the club signed Fin Smith.

But the move to Toulon, which would see him sign for the rest of this season and next, was rather unexpected as they had been in talks with Jacob Umaga.

The England international, 24, is a free agent after being made redundant by Wasps and was in advanced talks with Toulon.

Umaga will now have to look elsewhere for a new club while Biggar continues to thrash out terms for his move.
