NEWCASTLE Red Bulls back rower George Bolam has taken the first steps into senior rugby in his stride, welcoming the extra physical challenge.
The 6ft 5in, 15 stone-plus forward made four first-team Newcastle appearances this season in the Prem Cup and also impressed on loan at Billingham, earning a string of standout displays in National Two North. And, while the jump from schoolboy rugby to the senior environment can often be daunting, Bolam, 19, admits it was the learning curve, not the collisions, that tested him most.
