Henry heads to Newcastle

NEWCASTLE Red have signed fly-half Zack Henry on a one-year deal from Stade Francais for next season. Englishman Henry has spent the bulk of his career playing in with Stade and, before that, at Pau, Rouen and Nevers.

The 31-year-old did spend a season with Tigers in 2020-21 – playing 26 games – before returning to the with Pau and then moving to Paris.

“I have spent nine years of my professional career in France and my only time in the Prem was during Covid, so I’m excited about coming home and having the full experience,” Henry said. “I’m really excited by what Newcastle are building and I can’t wait to be part of such an ambitious project.”

Newcastle have also agreed a deal to sign centre Will Rigg at the end of this season on a two-year deal. The 25-year-old becomes the third Chiefs player to make the move north in the summer after Josh Hodge and Rusi Tuima. ‘s 50-cap hooker George Turner, 33, will move to Newcastle from in ther summer and Red Bulls will also have 26-year-old Maori second row Max Hicks from Perpignan and winger Joji Nasova, 25, from Fijian Drua.
