Bath surrender nothing to do with no relegation

Predictably, last weekend’s abject capitulation by Bath was seen by some zealots as evidence that with no relegation, teams at the bottom of the league would give up: they couldn’t be more wrong.
Let’s be clear, Gloucester v Bath is the oldest league rivalry – any player who can’t get up for those derby matches doesn’t deserve to be wearing the shirt and is disrespecting the fans, some of whom would accept relegation as long as they won against their old rivals! If there had been the threat of relegation I don’t believe it would have made a jot of difference to those Bath ...
