FREDDIE BURNS

ROOM 101

THE FLY-HALF TAKES US THROUGH HIS PET HATES FROM THE RUGBY WORLD AND BEYOND

1. Wet door knobs

There is nothing worse than drying your hands in a bathroom, only to go to open the door to leave and being met with a wet door knob. Even if you don’t want to use a hand dryer, a quick brush over a coat or trousers does the trick. Yes, they might have washed hands … but I don’t know that. I don’t want to have to re-wash.

TRP VERDICT: How can we wash our hands on this one?

2. Loud chewers

I love a good meal, out with friends, talking about the world. We all love having that back after being unable to for the better part of two years during a pandemic. But please don’t sit across from me trying to drown out the rest of the restaurant with a cement-mixer style effort of enjoying your meal. You might be enjoying it, but everyone else doesn’t need to hear how much!

TRP VERDICT: To tell you the tooth, we’ve had this one so many times it’s hard to swallow another

3. Silent thank you blankers

If I hold a door open for you, it doesn’t feel like much to ask for a simple ‘Thank You’ as your breeze through. Likewise, if I slowly tap the brake to let you take the place in front of me in the lane you need to be in, just hit those hazard lights. You know who you are … and so do I. I have your number plate.

TRP VERDICT: We can wave this one through, no worries.
