Room 101: Leeds Tykes captain Jake Brady

ROOM 101

CAPTAIN TAKES US THROUGH HIS PET HATES FROM THE RUGBY WORLD AND BEYOND

1. Wireless phone charging

Millions must have been invested in the development of wireless chargers and phones that can be charged wirelessly. But, in reality, it's less practical and useful than wired charging. Your phone has to be laid down on the ‘wireless' charger which funnily enough has a wire running from it to the mains. If you want to send a text or answer a call you have to pick your phone up off the charger to do so, stopping it from being charged. With standard wired charging you can do both these things while your phone carries on charging. A pointless invention which is actually worse than what it's replacing.

TRP VERDICT: I'm pleased to say it's a ‘hands-down' yes.

2. The TV show ‘Friends'

If I'm sat in a room while Friends is on in the background, I can feel myself getting worked up and irritated. I'm not entirely sure what it is but I certainly don't find it funny in the slightest. The fake crowd laughing at all the terrible gags certainly doesn't help. And the characters are painfully basic.

TRP VERDICT: It's Matt LeBlanc looks from us, we love it.

3. Props who tell me what boots to wear

Being a second row and pushing behind the props in the scrum, they love to have a moan about my stud length. I've played with props that don't think anything but 21mm studs is acceptable even on baked solid ground. I have tried explain ing that an extra 3mm on my stud length isn't going to help when my studs are skating along the surface. Also, the same kind of prop doesn't do much running about so doesn't have to worry about getting the inevitable blisters that long studs on hard ground create.

TRP VERDICT: Seeing as you've put your heart and sole into this one, we'll let it through
