Nottingham ace looks for love on Channel 4’s First Dates

By Jon Newcombe
ONE rugby player who won't be lonely this Christmas is centre Oli Evans.
Single for his entire adult life so far, the 27-year-old has grown weary of having a midfield partner but not one from the opposite sex.
So, being the fun-loving guy that he is, he decided to apply for hit Channel 4 show, First Dates.
Evans made it through the selection process and the episode he appears in was aired on Christmas Day.
Rugby players are normally well received on First Dates, for obvious reasons, and Oli is hoping that continues even though in last week's Rugby Paper he admitted to having “a rubbish rig”.
“Some girls like the whole rugby thing so it can get you a bit of attention, but in other ways when you are moving around all the time and not settled in one place it can be quite tough to have relationships,” Evans old TRP.
“I've been single for ages, around nine years, partly because of my personality and partly by choice, but I think I would have had a girlfriend by now if I'd gone to university and then got a job in the City of London.
“I'm not panicking just yet, but I think there is only me and two others in the Nottingham squad who are single! It's funny because we rely quite heavily on the university lads, you'd think they'd all be charging around and living the single life, but most of them have girlfriends.
“I thought it would be a fun experience to go on the show and I did it for genuine reasons, although I'm doubtful I will meet the girl of my dreams on First Dates.”
Evans' team-mates found out about his appearance on the show a week after filming and have been after inside info even since but without much luck.
“All I can say is that it's a Christmas-themed episode!”
