Matthew never let you know he was suffering

I WANT to end my column this week by paying tribute to Matthew J Watkins after his tragic passing.
I’d known Matthew for a very, very long time. I played with him for Wales and Wales A as well as against him in Welsh club and regional rugby. Everyone knew he had been suffering with cancer for a very long time, but the thing with Matthew was you would never have known.
He never moaned or took a backward step in his fight and I’m absolutely gutted by this news. It has really hit home with me.
