Law stays grounded as business end nears

CARDIFF head coach Steve Law is taking nothing for granted ahead of his side’s top v bottom clash with Llanelli at the Ar ms Park today.

Cardiff, the reigning champions, may be well clear at the top, but at this time of year it becomes difficult to nail down a regular side with inter national and URC demands pulling regional players in different directions.

It is a similar story for Llanelli, who are in the Scarlets stable, although their playing resources on the semi-pro front are a lot thinner than their rivals from the Welsh capital. That is reflected in the fact they have won only twice in 13 games to date and haven’t won since they beat Pontypridd on 29 October. There seems little chance of them ending a seven-match losing streak at the Ar ms Park, but nonetheless Law wants his team to make the most of the opportunity before them.

“We are getting to the business end and things are heating up. Everyone is chasing a top-four spot to get into the play-offs and the margin for error is reducing,” said Law.

Last week the west Walians provided stubbor n resistance at home against Aberavon before going down to a 55-21 loss.
