Humphreys to take charge at IRFU

David Humphreys has been appointed as the Irish Rugby Football Union’s new performance director.
The 52-year-old succeeds Australian David Nucifora, who will leave the role at the end of the season having held the position since 2014.
Former fly-half Humphreys, right, won 72 caps for Ireland and captained Ulster to the European Cup in 1999. After retiring in 2008, he served as Ulster’s director of rugby and spent six years in a similar position at Gloucester.
He is currently the director of performance operations with the England and Wales Cricket Board.
