Slow starts giving Carnegie mountains to climb

BRENDAN COPE knows Yorkshire Carnegie cannot afford another poor start if they are to preserve their unbeaten home record against Nottingham.
In last week’s 42-24 defeat at Ealing, Carnegie trailed 19-0 before waking from their slumber, while in the opening game loss at Hartpury a 10-0 half-time deficit proved insurmountable.
Even in the round two win over Richmond, Carnegie managed to cross the opposition line only once to lead 7-0 at the break.
