Richmond rack up 50 as Park cave in

……………. 50

AFTER a tightly contested first half, Richmond pulled away with six expansive second-half tries to run up 50 points yesterday.

Sedgley Park started the better, Warren Seals knocking over a penalty after Jake Monson saw yellow for not retreating ten metres. Seals added a second kick just inside the half hour, before Richmond finally opened their scoring with a try well finished by Callum Torpey.

The second half was altogether different as Richmond added 43 points. After a Dennett penalty, George Nugent set the tone with a thunderous 30-metre run to the line, Dennett adding the first of several touchline conversions.

Park briefly countered, Ollie Leatherbarrow doing the hard yards before passing to Matt Sturgess to score.

After that, it was Paul Bro nearly all Richmond. With the forwards edging both scrum and line out, half-backs Dennett and Luc Jones opened up at every opportunity. Quick ball gave wingers Chidera Obonna and Charlie Cadogan the chance to show their pace, alongside centre Paddy Case.

Park did counter with a try in a corner by Alex Wills, but the last word was with Richmond, Obonna arrowing in from 50 metres to end the season in style.
