Passman treble helps champions avoid a slip-up

Darlington MP…….40

CHAMPIONS Chinnor survived a scare at the Darlington Arena as they ended the season with a thrilling win over Mowden Park. Nick Easter's side ran in six tries to edge out a spirited DMP.

Things looked ominous for the hosts as Chinnor quickly opened up a 0-14 lead inside ten minutes after tries from Morgan Passman and Mark Darlington. Mowden responded well, and levelled after welltaken tries from Obi

Ene and Yaree Fantini. A typical end-of-season affair saw both sides running the ball from deep, with Mowden edging ahead through Josh Ree on the halfhour mark. Chinnor hit back immediately through Grant Hughes after a charge down, before a penalty try for DMP after a deliberate knock-on.

A frantic first 40 ended with Chinnor taking a two-point lead into the break after a second for former DMP man Passman. The second half was no different, with the lead changing hands multiple times. First Connor Brockschmidt scored out wide, before DMP replied via Ene's second. Oliver Curry was shown red for comments made after DMP's fifth try, and the home side took advantage when Fantini dotted down for his second with 15 minutes left.

Chinnor showed their class to clinch the win courtesy of a hat-trick score from Passman on the 70th-minute mark.
