Rams director of rugby Seb Reynolds has praised England U20 head coach Mark Mapletoft for his “refreshing” decision to pick George Makepeace-Cubitt in his squad for last Friday night’s game against Wales in Bath.
Having rejoined his boyhood club from London Irish in the summer, Makepeace-Cubitt was named on the bench with the remainder of the squad – bar Racing 92 lock Junior Kpoku – attached to Premiership sides.
