ESHER secured their first win of their National One campaign, putting their bottom-of-the-table rivals Hull to the sword.

This clean-sheet victory saw the hosts run in four unanswered tries, with fly-half Sam Morley kicking extra daylight between the two.

Esher's director of rugby Peter Winterbottom was delighted to see his side excel in attack and defence.

“It seems to have been a long time coming, we put in a good performance today.

“To nil Hull was is a real achievement, scoring 34 is pretty good, but I thought realistically to nil them, is fantastic.

“Near the end of the game, where we were on our line, and we didn't let them get over to score, which was very pleasing.”

Prop Matt Lowes led Esher out for kick-off, as he secured his milestone 100th cap for the club.

Behind him was his captain Adam Bullett, who made his 50th appearance.

Esher took charge of the first half with three unanswered tries, breaking the deadlock, which had stood for the opening quarter of the game.

These two sides, who prop up the National One table, were well-matched until Harvey Scott opened Esher's account for the afternoon.

Hull sacked down a rolling maul, and Esher moved to the backs.

Myles Rawstron-Rudd darted through a handful of defenders, before flanker Scott was put through on a hard line to score. Sam Morley converted accurately from the tee.

Jack Walsh broke away at great pace after 30 minutes, and shipped the ball wide to Harri Lang, to accelerate down the left wing.

He was tackled into touch by a covering Reece Dean, yet Esher regathered the following lineout, with lively scrum-half Pierre Thompson sniping to score. Morley added the extras for a 14-0 lead.

Hooker Andy Hamilton ensured back-to-back scores for the hosts just two minutes later, with an impressive burst of speed. Running onto an offload just inside the op-position half, Hamilton hit top gear and outpaced the trailing Hull defenders.

An additional conversion and following a penalty from Morley saw Esher depart for halftime at 24-0.

The only score of the second half came from replacement hooker Joe Vajner. In a move straight from the training pitch, Vajner threw his lineout to the front prop, who quickly returned the ball. Vajner then ran in unopposed, and further extended the lead.

A trickier kick this time from out on the right-hand side, yet Morley was accurate once again.

Hull's replacement lock Liam Regadsoe was sin-binned for a high tackle, and sat out the remainder of the game.

The following penalty was neatly struck by Morley, who maintained his perfect kicking record, and secured victory in what was the final blow for Hull.
