COVENTRY came away with the points and a season double over Cambridge but were made to work hard by Ross Stewart’s side in a game that turned just after the halfhour.
And two try-saving yellow cards didn’t hurt either as Rowland Winter made a winning return to Grantchester Road.
Cambridge gave up a couple of early scores, with Tom Howe and Max Trimble both touching down.
The Blood & Sand fought back though as prop Ben Ibrahim dived over, Dan Lewis missing from the tee.
