CLIFTON’S big forwards proved the difference in a game that got away from Macclesfield late on.
The opening exchanges were even, with possession exchanging hands several times, but Clifton settled first. A lineout on halfway was won and fast hands led to a break that pulled in the Macc defence, allowing space for Clifton wing Howman to score.
Macc responded with two Harry Oliver penalties, but further good play by Tumy Onasanya, Farrell, Harry Hughes and Harry Oliver for Macc came to nothing.
