Macclesfield………. 17
Luctonians…………..36
LUCTONIANS kept their cool to defeat Macclesfield at Priory Lane, scoring five tries to take maximum points from a thrilling encounter.
Owen Randell’s penalty opened the scoring for the visitors but that spurred Macclesfield into life as Oliver Long-more crashed over for an unconverted try.
In a see-saw spell, Luctonians hit back, with Caleb Montgomery scoring the first of his two tries before flanker Harry Hughes raced through for the hosts.
But thanks to more magic from Montgomery, Luctonians swiftly regained the lead, helped by Randell’s conversion.
The topsy-turvy nature of the match continued in the second-half. Winger Joshua Watkins zoomed clear for Luctonian’s third try, Randell excellently converting, but when Thomas Jones saw yellow for the visitors Macclesfield profited from their man advantage, Harry Harding crossing.
But when restored to their full complement Luctonians pulled clear with quick tries from Charlie Grimes and Robert Aikman to open up a 19-point lead.
Jamie Harrison and Bradley Smith were yellow carded late on, but Luctonians had long since won.
