Hull………………………….0
LUCKLESS Hull’s woes continued, as they left at Dore Moor with a double-pointless performance in Sheffield Tigers‘ win.
The Tigers made a fast start, as Mark Ireland nudged them into an early lead, but they made heavy work of it from there, not helped – in their defence – by the loss of the talismanic James Broadley after 30 minutes.
They turned around three points to the good, but a try early into the second half settled any nerves.
Barney Goatley was the man to go over although, yet again, Hull’s perseverance and resilience continued to shine through in abundance.
They won’t need telling, however, that their quality in their attacking game is lacking, and that was the case here.
Tom Calladine and Dom Santamaria went over in the final ten minutes to finally put the nail in the Hull coffin, keeping the Tigers safely, and very much firmly mid-table.
Hull remain very much alive towards the bottom – Rossendale are a point ahead, with Billingham very much in sight ahead of them – but their form will need a dramatic upturn, if they are to avoid the trapdoor and a return to regional rugby.
