SHEFFIELD Tigers were lifted by the return of Will Baker and James Norman on loan from Rotherham, who scored their three tries, and played with the confidence needed to hold out and win.
The Tigers applied the early pressure, and after being held five metres out, Mark Ireland chipped over the top for Baker to score.
Hull Ionians responded with superb interplay between Cam Burnhill and Malik Holden, sending Holden to the posts. Then further pressure saw Josh Britton put through a gap to score.
