A positive home ending for Field

RELEGATED Huddersfield gave a good account of themselves in their final home game.

Two tries from stalwart prop Harry Whitfield, starting the game at inside centre, looked to be propelling the hosts to only their third win of the season, before a late try from Jacob Holmes saw the visitors share the spoils.

In a helter-skelter opening, an early try for the home side through Ed Barber was swiftly countered when Josh Sarsfield jinked his way through an unlikely gap to put the visitors level.

Midway through the half Whitfield steamrollered his way through the Otley ranks to give his side the advantage.

Otley began to edge the set-piece battle and were rewarded when quick ball found Holmes in space for 14-14 at the break.

The visitors continued after the restart, again moving the ball at pace for Lewis Martin to cross in the corner.

Whitfield then struck again, forcing his way down the right flank for the score. Replacement scrum-half Paul Harrison's close range try then edged his side ahead at 26-21

With time running out Holmes levelled, with Ed Crossland's conversion striking the wrong side of the upright.
