Huddersfield…25
Sheffield T…… 44
A DOMINANT firsthalf display from Sheffield Tigers saw bottom-placed Huddersfield slip to their fifth loss on the bounce.
Three tries in seven minutes, mid-way through the half from Oli Butterworth and a Jamie Broadley brace put the visitors in the driving seat.
The home side were rewarded with a Joe Gallager penalty following early pressure.
Field were undone following a fine Kian Stewart break, the full-back’s floated pass intercepted by Butterworth inside his own 22. The wing’s 80- meter dash seeing him over.
Broadley produced two more tries in quick succession as the centre tore through the Huddersfield defence.
Huddersfield responded when Ed Barber found a gap, before Ethan Myers forced his way over. Before the break, Tigers scrum-half Silas Talbot claimed the bonus try after a spell of sustained pressure, for a 13-28 advantage.
The second period saw Field regain a foothold. An early try from Adam Ryder began the hosts brightest spell. Mark Ireland pushed the score along with two penalties for the visitors, before Will Hammond reduced the deficit with a converted try. Any hope of bonus points for the hosts were crushed when Connor Scott crossed in stoppage time.
