Huddersfield overcame four yellow cards to see off the Tigers in a tempestuous contest.
Sheffield took an early lead with a penalty from Mark Ireland.
The hosts seemed to be in control when Liam Stapley was sin-binned, and Tom Calladine and Harry Cartwright crossed for converted tries.
Huddersfield then exerted control and hit back with tries from Lewis Bradley and Kian Stewart. Two conversions from Will Milner ensured the visitors went in at the break trailing by three points.
