Hull Ionians………… 80
Blaydon………………..26
Hull Ionians ran in 12 tries to cruise to victory in an end-of-season party atmosphere, setting a new team record highest score in the process.
Blaydon put up a good fight to trail only 26-19 at the break and scored their bonus point shortly after to take them off the bottom of the table.
Hull Ionians opened their account with a forward drive releasing Ally Forth to score, with further tries from Sam Wilson and George Mewburn from penalty lines-out, with Ben Smith adding the first two of nine conversions, before Blaydon replied by Adam Turnbull. Picking up a loose pass saw Sam Pocklington gain the bonus-point try, but Blaydon came back with Jack Appleton intercepting for a try, and poor tackling saw James Cooney score.
After the break Ionians scored straight away, stealing the kickoff and releasing Tyler Heelas on an overlap, and Obonna Chidera scored Blaydon’s bonus-point try.
Hull Ionians then took control and, running freely, added seven more tries. Sam Wilson completed his hat-trick to be the club’s highest try scorer this season, Joe Makin crossed twice, with further scores from Allan Hudson, Josh Britton and a penalty try.
