Tynedale…………….. 14
Chester………………… 21
Tynedale were made to pay for some sloppy errors as they lost to a slick Chester outfit inspired by scrum-half Ollie Wynn.
Tynedale’s problems started in the second minute when a penalty in front of the sticks was missed by fly-half Jake Rodgers.
They did go ahead after 12 minutes when flanker Graeme Dunn charged down an attempted clearance 12 metres out and forced his way over in the corner for a deserved try, well converted from the touchline by Rodgers.
Tynedale had a kick charged down after 28 minutes and, in the mayhem that followed, they gave away a penalty, which was slotted over by Gethin Long.
In the closing stages of the half, back-chat from Rob Parker saw a long-range penalty moved 10 yards nearer the posts and Long obliged from the tee to make it 7-6 at the break.
A quick tap penalty followed by a superb kick and chase saw Wynn put Chester in front two minutes into the second half, Long landing his third kick. Seven minutes later, the scrum-half sent wing Harrison Vare in.
Tynedale skipper Chris Wearmouth got a try, converted by Josh Leslie, but Chester had the last word with a penalty from Liam Reeve.
