Newly-promoted Sheffield stormed to a five try victory in a fiercely contested city derby.
A red card for Tigers hooker Louis Townsend midway through the first half proved to be the defining moment of the game. Although the hosts remained competitive, they faded in the final quarter and tries from Chris Hooper, Tom Bagnall and Ryan Burrows sealed the convincing win.
