Ionians victorious but lose ground

THE immovable force met the unstoppable object in a titanic forward battle at Brantingham Park, with the hosts holding sway to keep their N2N title hopes alive.
Ionians started with intent and Greg Minikin converted a scrum penalty after eight minutes but scoring opportunities were at a premium at both ends of the pitch.
Hull then struck again from a lineout, as hooker Ben Stephenson peeled round to dive over for the opening try. Minikin added the extras to give Ionians a ten-point lead at the break.
