Taylor keeps Dale tally ticking over

TYNEDALEedged a close encounter over mid-table rivals Hinckley, to extend the gap between the two sides to ten points.

An early Tynedale try from centre William Miller, plus 14 points from the boot of Daniel Taylor, were enough to down Hinckley, who had led until late on, thanks to a couple of tries from winger Callum Dacey.

The opening score took just two minutes as Miller crossed to capitalise on Wharfedale’s strong start, with Taylor adding the extras.

Hinckley responded on 17 minutes as Dacey proved too elusive and scored his first of the afternoon, though Conor Bullivant missed the opportunity to draw the sides level with his conversion attempt.

Bullivant did get another opportunity from the tee on 25 minutes as Tynedale were penalised for offside and the fly-half made no mistake second time around to put his troops in front.

However, a Taylor penalty on the stroke of half-time ensured Wharfedale would head into the break ahead.

Hinckley took just two minutes to restore their lead in the second half as Dacey completed his double by racing in from the 22.

But three more penalties from Taylor in the final quarter ensured that Tynedale went home with the win.
