Skipper Alex more than worth his Salt

Scunthorpe …20

HINCKLEY captain Alex Salt scored a sensational hat-trick as the hosts came from behind to down Scunthorpe at Road.

The visitors led 15-5 after 36 minutes but fell away badly for their fourth consecutive league defeat.

Scunthorpe centre Stephen Johnson, despite an early try from Salt, had kicked the visitors into an unexpected 15-8 half-time lead before Ashley Dibden scored a late, unconverted consolation try.

The visitors had started strongly with Johnson kicking his first of five penalties after just five minutes.

Salt powered over for his first try of the game after ten minutes, but four more successful three-pointers from Johnson give the visitors a 15-5 advantage.

But Mark Lord narrowed the deficit with a penalty prior to half-time before converting winger Sam Driver's brace to give the hosts the lead for the first time, 22-15.

Salt then grabbed his second to secure the try scoring bonus point before full-back Joshua Smith got over for the hosts' fifth, with Lord converting only the latter.

Flanker Dibden sniped over for the away side late on, but Hinckley skipper Salt still had time to complete his hat-trick, Lord converting.
