OXFORD Harlequins significantly boosted their hopes of league survival with a six tries to five win over Colchester, who by contrast were pushed closer to relegation.
The hosts came into the fixture bottom of the league, 14 points behind third-bottom Quins, so it was always likely to be a tense and fiercely contested match.
It was a red-letter day for Colchester captain Danny Whiteman, who was making his 300th first-team appearance for his hometown club.
