BURY St Edmunds banished memories of their opening-day defeat with an eight-try demolition of promoted side Westcliff.
The home side were far from at their best, but it was enough to see off a side with plenty of possession but lacking a cutting edge.
Bury got off to a dream start, scoring twice in the opening minutes as hooker Dan Walsh and flanker Matt Bursey rounded off drives.
