Points shared as Hawks held at home

…30 .30

HENLEY and Canterbury shared 60 points at Dry Leas in an evenly-contested match in which both teams will feel they could have stolen the win.

Canterbury opened the scoring with a well-worked try for winger Jonathan Murray, before George Jackson's break allowed Jack Robinson to respond with an excellent try.

Another Henley attack was then rewarded with a penalty which Jackson converted to give the home side a 10-5 lead.

Harry Sayers struck back with a try resulting from a five-metre scrum, levelling the scores, before No.8 Jake Rigby finished off a maul to put the away side ahead once again.

Connor Hayhow made a break and outpaced the Canterbury defence to score and give Henley a slender half-time lead, then after the break Sayers pounced on a dropped ball to race in unopposed.

Penalties wre traded and back came the Hawks with Max Berry's try in the corner, but following a Henley yellow card, Canterbury kicked for touch and Jarvis Otto touched down from the resulting driving maul.

Jackson then levelled the scores with another penalty for Henley before a frantic final few minutes which saw the visitors awarded a penalty within kickable range.

Fortunately for the Hawks, the kick went wide to leave the sides to share the spoils.
