Bury St Eds …39
Barnstaple…25
CHRIS Lord and Dwayne Corcoran both scored two tries to help Bury St Edmunds see off Barnstaple. The visitors started the match strongly and took the lead with a penalty from Gwyn Parks. Bury made seven changes to their team from last week but they soon found their feet and equalised through Liam McBride.
The Bury pack worked hard in the loose with Sam Bixby making a good break before Lord ran through following a great chip through to score. This was shortly followed by another Bury try from Mark Kohler and the home side now in the ascendancy, added another Parks penalty to stretch their lead.
Winger Corcoran then went over in the corner, converted by McBride, as the hosts led 25-6. There was more of the same after the break as Bury surged forward again through McBride. He made a powerful break which was finished off with a well-taken try by Lord.
Multiple replacements followed and they worked for the visitors. Barnstaple scored three tries late on with winger Kyle Speare cutting a great line for the third after Rob Dugard and Winston James had earlier gone over to add some respectibility to the scoreboard.
